From the concert hall to the classroom: Tenebrae choir inspires Â鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ pupils

Pupils at Â鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ secondary schools in London recently enjoyed an inspiring musical experience as members of Tenebrae, one of the world’s leading choirs, led a series of interactive choral workshops.

Â鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ MusicÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ AcademyÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ Blake AcademyÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ Burlington Danes AcademyÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ Elvin AcademyÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ Globe AcademyÂ鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ John Keats Academy

Renowned for its precision, expressive sound and innovative performances, the brought their world‑class musicianship directly into the classroom. During the sessions, students had the opportunity to hear live performances, sing alongside internationally acclaimed professionals, and gain insight into what it takes to pursue singing as a career.

Pupils took part in vocal and physical warm‑ups, explored core choral techniques and developed their confidence as performers – and a Q&A session gave students the chance to learn more about the singers’ own musical journeys, daily life as professional musicians, and the different pathways into a career in vocal performance.

The artists also encouraged the pupils to apply for , their fully-funded Saturday choral training programme for teenagers who love singing but have limited opportunities to develop their ensemble singing further.

Gail Rimeika, Tenebrae’s Learning and Connection Producer, said, “We loved having the chance to meet and work with so many talented young singers across the Â鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ schools. It was clear how much potential they have. We hope we’ve sparked their interest in exploring choral singing further, applying to our Tenebrae Academy, and helping them feel confident that they, too, could one day sing in internationally renowned ensembles like Tenebrae!â€�

More than 100 students from , , , , and took part in the workshops, which form part of a wider offer available to Â鶹avÓ³»­´«Ã½ schools, providing enriching, high‑quality cultural experiences that broaden pupils’ horizons and nurture talent.
